LaVerne J. Wolford, 78 of Streetsboro, died Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at Robinson Memorial Hospital in Ravenna. She was born August 26, 1935 in Somerset, PA to Monroe and Elsie (Brendle) Beck. LaVerne was a member of the Southeast Church of the Nazarene, former member of the Kent Church of the Nazarene, Sunday School teacher, church board member, helped with Brownies and Girl Scouts and retired in 2001 from Streetsboro Schools where she was a bus driver. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, gardening, canning, ceramics, puzzles, cross stitch and spoiling grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband of 59 years Clyde, daughters Kathy (James) Javorsky of Winchendon, MA, Kimi (Wayne) Peel of Streetsboro and Sherri (Robert) Jordan of Lima, OH, 7 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, sisters Lorene Davis of Kent and Janet Veon of Rootstown and brothers James Beck of Kent and Carl Beck of GA. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Louella Wolford and brothers Clyde, Roy and Donald Beck. Calling hours will be from 4 - 7 PM Friday, February 7, 2014 at Shorts Spicer Crislip Funeral Home Streetsboro Chapel. Funeral services will be at 11:30 AM Saturday, February 8, 2014 at the funeral home with Pastor Paul Meduri officiating. Burial will follow in Crown Hill Cemetery in Twinsburg.
