Earl Thompson, 93 years of age, passed away Thursday, February 13, 2014 at Emeritus at Ravenna in Ravenna, Ohio. Born January 5, 1921 in Emerson, Ohio, he was the son of the late Lindley and Glada (Mercer) Thompson. A lifetime Windham area resident, Mr. Thompson was a member of the Windham United Methodist Church. He had been employed as a Slitter Operator at Thomas Strip Steel in Warren, Ohio, retiring after over 30 years of service. Mr. Thompson enjoyed being outdoors, and working in his yard and garden, yet will mostly be remembered as a "People Person" who loved his friends, family and grandchildren. On February 14, 1943, he married Emma Thompson who preceded him in death in 2006. Also preceding him was his grandson Roger E. Thompson and brother Aaron Thompson.

Survivors include his children Thomas Thompson of Cortland, and Roger L. (Tyra) Thompson and Nancy Thompson both of Windham, as well as 8 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be Tuesday, February 18, 2014, 11:00 a.m. at the Green Family Funeral Home & Crematory Service in Mantua, where visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until service time. Officiating will be Pastor Fred Youngen, with final resting place to follow at Windham Township Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the ALS Association, 6155 Rockside Rd., Independence, Oh. 44131, or the American Diabetes Association, 4500 Rockside Rd., Independence, Oh. 44131. Tim, Olivia and I are keeping you in our prayers as you celebrate Earl's life. I have many childhood memories of him... and pray that you hold the good memories in your heart and allow them to comfort you.
