Kay Marilyn Dimitroff, age 78 of Freedom, passed away Thursday, February 13, 2014, at her home.
She was born October 13, 1935, in Cleveland, Ohio, to parents Roy L. Fankhauser Sr. and Helen (Rogal) Fankhauser. Kay graduated from Ravenna High School and later from Kent State University. Kay was an art teacher at Brown Junior High School in Ravenna, as well as the Mogadore School District. She continued to substitute teach throughout Portage and Summit counties until her retirement. She was a talented artist and painter. Kay was also involved with the March of Dimes.
She was preceded in death by her husband Thomas J. Dimitroff, her parents, and her brother Roy L. Fankhauser, Jr.
Kay is survived by ex-husband Geoffrey Rankin and their children: Cynthia Herting of St. Petersburg, FL, Jonathon Rankin of Diamond, Nathan Rankin of Copley, and James Rankin of Freedom; step-children: Cynthia Dimitroff and Lyn Dimitroff; as well as her grandchildren: Nicholas Herting, Michelle Rankin, Zachary Lewis, Lillian Rankin, Lizabeth Herting, Edana Rankin, James Rankin, Emma Rankin, Keenan Rankin and Joey Raffaele.
Friends will be received Wednesday, February 19, 2014, from 5:00 - 7:00 PM at the Wood-Kortright-Borkoski Funeral Home, 703 E. Main St., Ravenna, with funeral services immediately following at 7:00 PM. Private burial will take place at Maple Grove Cemetery on a later date.
