Dannilee McGunigal, 48, passed away peacefully surrounded by family members on March 10, 2014 at Summa Akron City Hospital. She was born in Bedford, Ohio to the late Daniel Lee Singer Sr. and Edythe (nee Thomas) Kline-Taylor.
Dannilee lived in Rootstown and Diamond, Ohio. She graduated from Rootstown High School in 1983. She worked at Jet Rubber of Rootstown, later for Ray Murdock Excavating, and then Centimark Industrial Roofing. Her last employer was Ironworkers Local #17 of Cleveland.
She enjoyed spending time with her son, especially watching him race motocross. She also loved spending time at area lakes, ski dooing, boating, camping, and traveling with friends and family. Animals also held a special place in her heart, especially stray cats.
Dannilee was preceded in death by her step-fathers, David Rader, John Kline, and Frank Taylor; grandfather, George Singer; and grandparents, Amy Lindsay Vakasy and Gerald Lindsay. She is survived by her only son, David Lee McGunigal; sister, Brenda Lee Hillegas Barnhart; brothers, Daniel Lee Singer Jr., David Wayne Singer, and John Russell Rader; nieces, Amanda Hillegas and Madylin Ditto; nephews, Glen (Rachel) Hillegas Jr., A.J. Gless Turner, Benjamin Barnhart, Chris Seifert, and Matt Seifert; great-niece, Serena Hillegas; uncles, Thomas Singer, Raymond Thomas, and Vernon Thomas; aunt, Candace Blough; step-brothers, Lex (Elaina) Taylor and Rex (Bonnie) Taylor; step-sisters, Rebecca (Jim) Mulloy, Bonnie (Jack) Bowman, Kathy Murray, and Lisa Bennett; step-mother, Mrs. Joanne (Mike) Lebo; step-brothers, Mark (Lori) Slates and Brian Slates; step-sisters, Beth (Kevin) Scheetz and Kelly (Chuck) Ikey; grandmother, Lois Singer; and many cousins.
A memorial gathering will be held March 22, 2014 at the American Legion #331 (109 Elm Street, at the corner of Main Street, in Ravenna) from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Adams Mason Funeral Home (791 E. Market Street, Akron, OH 44305) to help cover the funeral expenses.
