Jeffrey A. McCartney, 53, of Stow, died March 16, 2014 following a brief illness. He was born on Jan. 25, 1961 to Angeline and Clarence McCartney in Kent, Ohio. He graduated from Stow High School in 1979 and served briefly in the United States Army. His work history included many years at Joe's Auto Service in Stow; Sikorsky Aircraft, Grumman Aircraft and Lockheed Martin in Florida; landscaping and self employed with Affordable Handyman Services.
Jeff had a kind and generous heart. He was a free spirit and loved motorcycles, music and going to concerts, especially at Nelson Ledges.
Preceded in death by his father, Clarence, he is survived by his mother, Angeline McCartney of Stow; son Austin Patrick, and his mother Leigh McCartney of New Smyrna Beach, Fla.; longtime girlfriend Kim Montoney, and her sons Dalton and Donny of Stow; sister Rickie (Ken) Weiss of N. Canton; brothers Pat and Tom (Tammy) McCartney of Stow; nieces Nichole (Sean) Housley, Hannah (Kyle) Davis and Monica McCartney; nephews Joshua Weiss and Tommy McCartney, great nieces and nephews, and many wonderful friends.
Cremation has taken place through Redmon Funeral Home. A celebration of his life was held on March 22nd at Acker-Moore Memorial Post in Stow featuring his favorite local band The Delta Dogs.
