Joseph Edward "Ed" Nutter, 77 of Windham, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, April 26, 2014 at Akron City Hospital.
Ed was born in New Lexington on July 9, 1936 the son of Charles and Florence (Flowers) Nutter. He was a resident of Windham and a parishioner of St. Michael Catholic Church in Windham for over 70 years. The Nutter family assisted in the building of the St. Michael Church.
He was a 1954 graduate of Windham High School, were he played football for Leo Kot. Ed was inducted into the USMC on April 15, 1957 and was honorable discharged on April 10, 1959 with the rank of Lance Corporal.
Ed was a graduate of Riggs-Lamar Barber School in Cuyahoga Falls and was a barber for 54 years. He worked 4 years at Barbers of G'ville and 50 years at Ed's Barber Shop in Newton Falls.
He was a former village of Windham councilman and served one year as council president. Ed was a member of the Windham Council 4433 of the Knights of Columbus, Windham American Legion Post 674 and Am Vets Post 112.
Ed Nutter and Elizabeth "Betty Jo" Otto were united into marriage on August 26, 1961 at St. Michael Catholic Church and from this union had five children Douglas, Michael, Patrick, Tina and Daniel.
Cherished memories of Ed will be carried on by his wife Elizabeth Nutter of Windham, sons Douglas Nutter of Windham, Patrick (Dawn) Nutter of Newton Falls and Daniel (Christine) Nutter of Avon, daughter Tina (Todd) Gienger of Wadsworth, brothers Jim (Stella) Nutter of Panama, Jerry (Jan) Nutter of Norton and Larry (Marilyn) Nutter of Sutter Creek, CA, sisters Elizabeth Lane of Stow, Ruth Ann (John) Diroll of Stow and Connie Denvir of Windham, grandchildren Tyler and Matthew Gienger of Wadsworth, Taylor Quinn of Diamond, Elizabeth and Emily Nutter of Newton Falls and Alex and Ben Nutter of Avon and many nieces and nephews and grand nieces and grand nephews.
Preceding Ed in death were his parents, infant son Michael & brothers William, Robert and Thomas Nutter.
Friends may call on Thursday, May 1 at the Borowski Memorial Home in Newton Falls from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM. and from 10:30-11:30 AM on May 2 prior to the Mass of Christian Burial at St. Michael Church at 12 Noon with Rev. James Lang officiating. Ed will be laid to rest in Windham Twp. Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that contributions in Ed's name be made to St. Michael Church in Windham.
