Norman C. Petrie, 86 years of age, passed away Monday, May 5, 2014 at Geauga Regional Medical Center UHS in Claridon Township, Ohio. Born on July 17, 1927 in Aberdeen, Scotland, he was the son of the late Francis and Agnes (Cummings) Petrie. A resident of the Garrettsville area since 1970, Norm grew up in Scotland and was a member of the MacGregor Clan. He was a veteran of the Royal British Navy. Norm was employed as a welder-repairman at Ford Motor Company, Walton Hills Division, retiring after 37 years of service. He enjoyed sheep farming for many years, and the times he spent visiting with his many friends, as well as going to the Middlefield Auction Barn. A 50 plus year member of Mantua Masonic Lodge No. 533 F.&A.M., he had served as Past Master of his Lodge.On March 2, 1951, he married Margaret R. "Pearl" Petrie who preceded him in death on September 13, 2008.
Survivors include his sons Frank (Joyce) Petrie of Shalersville and David (Kim) Petrie of Garrettsville, brother Alistair Petrie of Scotland, 6 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Calling hours will be Thursday May 8, 2014 from 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. at the Green Family Funeral Home & Crematory Service in Mantua, where Masonic Services will begin at 5:30 p.m. Private family inurnment will then be held at Crown Hill Cemetery in Twinsburg.
