Betty Irene Wynns, 93 of Kent died Sunday Mother's Day, at the home of her son, Dale Wynns and daughter-in-law Sally Crane.
Born February 26, 1921 in Kent, she was the daughter of Augustus Harry and Willmetta (Mett) Austin.
Betty was one of twelve children.
Betty worked at the K Shop, a restaurant for many years. She was an avid reader, worked word puzzles and most of all walked all over Kent and as far away as I-76. A lot of people watched for the feisty little lady with the thick white hair and baseball cap on. She was not one for pulling punches and told you what she thought whether asked or not.
Betty is survived by sisters Elsie Bard of Stow and Metta (Tom) Linnen of Hubbard, her sons Harry (Marg) of Denver Colorado and St. Thomas, and Dale (Sally) Wynns of Kent. She had 2 grandsons, Karston of Denver, Colorado and Ian (Ginger) and their 2 sons Ethan and Mason. Betty was also grandmother to Dale's two step-sons, Chris (Jodi) Baldwin of Solon and their two sons Ryan and Zachery, and Alex (Cassie) Baldwin of Silver Lake and their two daughters Abigail and Madison. Another grandchild, Olivia lives in Corinth, Texas. She is Betty's great-great grandchild. Betty's husband, Vernon "Red" died in 1992. Her sisters Martha Breslin, Mary Harvey, Ruth Thompson, Dorothy Bowden and brothers Jack, A. Harry Jr., Kenny, Harold, and Carl preceded her in death.
Cremation has taken place and there will be no calling hours. The family will gather this summer to celebrate her life.
Memorials may be made to the Portage County Animal Protective League in her name.
