Robert Lee Dorsey, 78 of Paris Twp., entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at his residence after a couragous battle with a long illness. Robert was born in Cleveland on February 1, 1936, the son of Jesse Lee & Grace Elizabeth (Parker) Dorsey. He has lived in Paris Twp., since 1998, formerly of Streetsboro.
Robert married the former Suzanne Baker on April 13, 1957. They were blessed with 41 years of marriage until her passing on July 13, 1998. On November 21, 2004, Robert married the former Jaqueline (Been) Jakab.
Robert was the owner/operator of Dorsey's Exxon Gas in Streetsboro during the 60s and 70s. He then worked at Croffod Fitting in Solon, Crosabel Steel in Streetsboro, Swagelock in Tallmadge, Aurora Farms and because of his loving and caring nature, he worked as a WalMart greeter. Robert was a member of the First Baptist Church in Streetsboro.
Robert was a very loving, caring husband, father, grandfather and brother. He loved his home on McClintocksburg Rd. where he would sit by the window and watch the wildlife and birds. He enjoyed doing home repairs and remodeling. He took pride in working in his yard and keeping his flowers beautiful. Robert enjoyed traveling and discovering new places that he had never seen before. Robert's greatest passion was spending time with his children and grandchildren. He loved to make people smile and laugh. Robert kept his humor till the day he passed!
Loving memories of Robert will be carried on by his wife, Jaqueline Dorsey of Paris Twp., daughters, Kimberly (James) Costello of Bertha Hill, WV, Vicki Lynn Lawless of Akron, Darla Kaye (Jon) Heberling of Winter Haven, FL, his son, Ricki Lee Dorsey of Ravenna, brother, Thomas Eugene Dorsey of Ravenna, 11 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, Mother-in-law, Mary Entzi of Paris Twp., Father-in-law, Robert Bean of Paris Twp., and two sisters-in-law, Patricia (Glenn) Walters and Virginia Rutherford. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Suzanne, three sisters, Pat Battinger, Charlolette Dorsey, Linda Lou Near and brother, Charles Dorsey.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, May 22, 2014 from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. at James Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 10:30 am at the funeral home. Robert will be laid to rest at Hawley Cemetery.
