John F. Kovach, 86 of Ravenna, formerly of Cleveland, died Monday, May 26, 2014. He was born August 7, 1927 in Cleveland, Ohio to Anthony and Helen (Buzir) Kovach. John was a US Army veteran of WWII, worked as a welder for Johns Trailers Inc. and in the warehouse at Fazio's in Cleveland.
Survivors include his son John (Twila Christine) Kovach of Houston, TX, daughter Karen (Edward) Kovach-Sturn of Lilburn, GA, grandsons Jason and Jeremy, brother Lou Kovach of Willowick, fiance' Nancy Large of Ravenna, former wife Rose M. Kovach, stepdaughters Debra Inge and Lori Bednar, stepsons Del and Ronald Large, 9 step grandchildren, 22 step great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters, 4 brothers and stepdaughter Victoria Hicks. Calling hours will be from 2 - 4 & 6 - 8 PM Friday, May 30, 2014 at Shorts Spicer Crislip Funeral Home Streetsboro Chapel, where services will be held at 10 AM Saturday, May 31, 2014. Father Bob Lanterman will officiate. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery in Shalersville Township. Memorials can be made to the D.A.V. or the American Cancer Society.
