Marjorie R. Clark, 94, a lifelong area resident, died peacefully at her home on Saturday June 7, 2014 surrounded and cared for by her family. She was born August 15, 1919 in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio to the late Henry and Martha (Olhoeft) Bessler.
Marjorie loved and participated in sports, playing basketball at Charlestown High School, before women sports were poplar. She was an avid golfer, achieving every golfers dream of a "hole-in-one" not once but twice. Other hobbies included travel, card games and she was an accomplished landscape painter. She was a licensed beautician and secretary/treasurer of her husband Paul's business. While working she was a devoted mother, running her daughters to music, voice, dance and sports practices. She touched many lives, as a church youth director, Lakeside Camp Counselor and girl scout leader. A member of the Rootstown and later the Ravenna United Methodist Church and Mariem Circle, she was an active volunteer.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Paul James, her sister Dorothy Ahrens, her son in laws Ralph Kelley, Bob McClelland and her great grandson. Survivors include her daughters Connie Kelley of Akron, Marjanna (Harvey) Craig of Rootstown, Martha (Tim) McClelland-Archer and Donna Clark both of Ravenna. She was "Mimi" to six granddaughters, one grandson, 12 great grandchildren, five great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Most recently a "Skip Bo" card game was a nightly event with her granddaughter Kristen (Steve) and all the family she could involve. In addition she leaves her beloved cat "Murphy" who guarded over the game.
Our beloved Mom and Mimi will be remembered and missed by everyone whose life she touched. "To live is to love, to laugh and to cry. Live for today but never ask why, you have survived while others must die. Live for you; Live strong and true. Make the proud, as they watch from the sky, but never, ever, be ashamed to cry."
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Tuesday June 10, 2014 at the Shorts Spicer Crislip Funeral Homes Ravenna Chapel with John Parker Officiating. Burial will follow in Grandview Memorial Park Ravenna, Ohio.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to Portage County APL, M.S. Foundation, Crossroads Hospice 3743 Boettler Oaks Dr. Suite E Green, Ohio 44685 or a charity of the donor's choice. Condolences and memories may be shared with the family at www.sscfuneralhomes.com.

I so remember Mrs. Clark. Donna and I were friends until they moved far away to Ravenna. They lived on Marks Ave right across from our house on Rte 18. We played together and went to church together at the Methodist Church. Connie was in the choir and I remember her beautiful voice. Your family is in my thoughts and prayers as you go through this transition in your family. I was Mary Beth Sheffield growing up so youwill probably remember that name better.
I am so sorry to hear that Mimi has passed away. It was a shock when I read this. She was truly a great lady and I know that all of the family have great memories of her. May God bless each and every one of you. She I know will be greatly missed. God bless you all.-- Edith Heckert
