Joan Friedman, 82 years of age, passed away Sunday, June 15, 2014 at her residence in Aurora, Ohio. Born in Cleveland, Ohio on November 6, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Theodore R. and Jewel (McAndrews) Havel. Following graduation from Collinwood High School, Joan moved to New York, City where she became a lifetime resident until moving to Aurora in 2008. Joan was a professional model, and was employed for over 25 years at Ford Modeling in New York, and was on the cover of Vogue Magazine several times during her career. A lady who loved animals, she became a horse enthusiast spending times in the country enjoying her passion with riding. A woman of many artistic talents, she also loved traveling the world including England and Europe. She is survived by her loving nephews Theodore F. (Jeanne) Havel, Jr. and John F. (Tatsyana) Havel both of Hudson and niece Laura A. (Douglas W.) Irish of Green, Ohio and her dear sister-in-law Joan Havel of Aurora. She was preceded in death by her brother Theodore F. Havel, Sr. in 2011. Funeral services will be Thursday, June 19, 2014, 2:00 p.m. at the Green Family Funeral Home & Crematory Service in Mantua, where visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until service time.
