James S. Kline, 79, of Rootstown, passed away Friday June 20, 2014 following a brief illness at the Robinson Memorial Hospital in Ravenna, Ohio. He was born May 7, 1935 in Ravenna to the late Ernest and Margaret (Lang) Kline.
Mr. Kline has lived in Rootstown the past 55 years and was formerly of Ravenna, where he graduated from Ravenna Township School. He was a veteran of the Ohio National Guard and was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Ravenna where he was involved with the Young at Heart Group. He retired from Ravenna Tire Service after 44 years of service. Mr. Kline enjoyed spending his winters in Florida with his wife of 55 years Alverna (Michel) Kline, square dancing, playing cards, family camping and boating trips and fishing trips to Canada.
Survivors include his wife Alverna, his children Debbie (Dick) Lansinger, Michele (Dave) Gimmel, Luanna (Andy) Youngblood, Mike (Beverly) Kline, his grandchildren Adam (Beth) Lansinger, Erin (Craig) Smith, Laura Lansinger, Amy and Paul Gimmel, Drew (Darby) Youngblood and Emily Youngblood, Brittany and Ashley Kline, Meaghan, Alex, Mikayla and Aaron. Also surviving are his great grandchildren Xavier, Breanna, Aiden, his siblings Bernard, Charles, Marjorie, Dorothy, Geraldine, Elaine, Ruth and Pauline. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his infant daughter Karen and brother Kenneth.
Calling hours will be 2-4 and 6-8 PM Monday June 23, 2014 at Shorts Spicer Crislip Funeral Homes Ravenna Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 AM Tuesday June 24, 2014 at Immaculate Conception Church in Ravenna with Father William Kraynak officiating. Burial will follow in Grandview Memorial Park Ravenna, Ohio.
