Glenn William Pfile, a lifelong resident of Rootstown, passed away Monday, June 30, 2014, at the tender age of 94.
He was born August 6, 1919, in Edinburg, Ohio, to parents Harry "John" and Blanche (Bacon) Pfile. Glenn was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife of 50 years Helen Pfile, his brothers Harold, Robert, and Donald Pfile, and his sister Gladys Crain.
He is survived by his daughters: Bonnie (Harry) Bee and Donna (Jim) Eskridge, as well as his dear friend Mary Tennant. Gramps' memory will be cherished by his grandchildren: Jim C. Eskridge, Erik Bee, Sabrina (JR) Johnson, Brian (Katie) Eskridge, and Amy Cochran; and his great-grandchildren: Samantha and Kendall Duffield, and Carson and Ethan Cochran, will always love their "Old Papa."
Glenn proudly served his country as a member of the US Navy during WWII. He later joined VFW Post 1055. Glenn mainly worked as truck driver and was a member of the Teamsters Union. He was a hard worker, who never quit until the job was done right. Glenn also enjoyed life and loved to have a good time.
Friends will be received Thursday, July 3, 2014, from 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM at the First Congregational Church of Rootstown UCC, 4022 State Route 44, Rootstown, OH 44272, with services immediately following at 12:00 PM. Interment will follow with military honors provided by the US Navy and VFW Post 1055 at Grandview Memorial Park.
