James E. Irving passed away July 26, 2014.
Born June 17, 1929 in Akron, Ohio, James lived most of his life in Tallmadge.
He and his brother Thomas ran the Maplecrest Golf Course for over 60 years.
He graduated from Kent State University in 1951 and served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Was as a Lieutenant in the Supply Corps. James was a member of the Sandusky Yacht Club, Mogadore VFW Post #8487, Kent American Legion, Mogadore Moose and volunteered at MAPS (Military Aviation Preservation Society). He enjoyed sailing his boat "Aloha", golfing, cards, sports, and history.
He was preceded in death by his father, James, mother, Lelah, and brother, Thomas
James is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Catherine and David Sterle; dear friend, Sue Irving; sister-in-law, Lela Irving; niece, Linda (Dan) Martin; nephews, Brian Irving, Paul and Adam Hlivko; great nieces, Abby and Anna Martin; and many friends.
A Memorial Service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, July 31, 2014 at the DONOVAN FUNERAL HOME, 17 SOUTHWEST AVE. (On the Historical Tallmadge Circle) with Rev. David Zachrich officiating.
Interment will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Restland Cemetery, where military rites will be conducted by Mogadore VFW Post #8487.
Visitation will be 12 until 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
