Robert "Bob" James Kish Sr.

Robert "Bob" James Kish Sr., passed away unexpectedly on August 6, 2014. Robert was born on August 17, 1937 in Clymer, PA, to Helen and Lewis Kish. He moved out to Kent at the age of 19, where he lived for most of his life.

Robert was a member of St. Patrick's Church. He was also a member of the Kent Canadian Club. At the age of 19, Robert started working at Educational Equipment in Kent. He worked there for 47 years until his retirement. Robert was a member of the Carpenters Union.

Robert' greatest joy in life was fishing with his son, Bobby. They fished all over Ohio and Pennsylvania and took trips to New York for salmon. Robert and his son also hunted every fall and enjoyed many good times with family and friends. Robert was a huge Pittsburgh Pirate and Pittsburgh Steeler fan, spending many hours watching these teams on television with his wife, Kathryn, and his children. In recent years, Robert spent some of his time at Spin 'N 'Win, where he would meet up with his close buddy, Richard (Buc) McBride and try their luck at the machines. Robert was a generous, honest and hard- working man who was always helping others. He was outgoing and friendly and never knew a stranger. He had a great sense of humor and always made others smile.

Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Kathryn. He will be sadly missed by his children, Lisa (Rod) Poor of Akron, Paula (Bill) Henderson of Upper St. Clair, PA, and his son, Robert "Bobby" (Erin) Kish of Kent; grandchildren, Hallie, Jenna, Carly, Wilson, Bennett, and Angel, and his great granddaughter, Raena; brother, Louis (Rita) of Seven Hills; sisters, Joan Palchesko of Sterling Hts., MI and Francie (Bob) Deosky of Spangler, PA; and many other family members and friends.

Calling hours will be held 6-8 PM Monday, August 11th at Bissler & Sons Funeral Home in Kent. Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Tuesday, August 12th at St. Patrick Church with Father Richard Pentello officiating. Burial will be held at Standing Rock Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Catholic Charities, 206 W. Main St., Ravenna, OH 44266.
