James Frank Koach, age 81, passed away Tuesday, August 19, 2014, while residing at the Woodlands at Robinson.
He was born December 8, 1932, in Fairmont, West Virginia, to parents Steve and Mary (Shaky) Koach. Jim proudly served his country as a paratrooper with the US Army 82nd Airborne. He was a decorated veteran of the Korean War, reaching the rank of Sergeant. Jim retired from the Ford Walton Hills Stamping Plant after 33 years of service. He was a member of Ravenna VFW Post 1055 and Ravenna Moose Lodge 1234.
Jim was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 51 years, Mary Nell (Talton) Koach, as well as his parents, his daughter Diane Bishop, and his brothers: Steve, Rudy, and Bill Koach. He is survived by his children: Carl Koach of Arkansas and Carol Koach of Ravenna, his grandchildren: Jeremy (Tracy) Koach, Nikki (Dan) Heidbrider, and Renee (Ron) Moore, as well as his great-grandchildren: Ciara, Marissa, Chloee, Madison, and Ryder.
Cremation has taken place. Friends will be received Thursday, August 28, 2014, from 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM at the Wood-Kortright-Borkoski Funeral Home, 703 E. Main St., Ravenna. Reverend Jim Lovejoy will officiate the memorial service immediately following at 12:00 PM. Inurnment will take place at Maple Grove Cemetery in Ravenna with military honors provided by VFW Post 1055 and the US Army Honor Guard.
