Alvin C. "Jack" Watson

Alvin C. "Jack" Watson, of Middlefield, Ohio died peacefully at his home on August 31, 2014. Born October 4, 1923 in Moss, Tennessee, he was the son of Elbert and Rosa (Painter) Watson. He had lived in Middlefield 45 years after moving from Hartville.

Jack was an entrepreneur who, along with his wife Thelma, owned numerous businesses during his lifetime, including Jack's Family Supperette in Hartville and Uniontown, and J & L Country Store, and Watson's Furniture in Middlefield.

Jack was a member of the "Greatest Generation" and flew numerous missions over Europe as a tail gunner with the 344th Bomber Group during World War II, serving 1943-1945. He was a member of the American Legion.

Jack is survived by his fiancé Anona Brewster of Middlefield, his daughter Darlene (Larry) Kaczmarek of Ravenna; 2 sons, Dean (Linda) Watson and David (Gerri) Watson, both of Middlefield; his brother Ray Watson of Gameliel, KY; six grandchildren, Deanna Cipriano of Kent, Bill (Jodi) Watson of MO, Lexi Watson of Euclid, Alyssa Watson of Middlefield, Kevin Harper of Akron, and Patrick Harper of S. Carolina; 6 great grandchildren, Carson, Francesca, Zachary, Mia, Neveah, and Kylah; two sisters-in-law, Kathleen Fierstos of North Canton and Wilda Schuch of New Baltimore; as well as many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife Thelma; his parents; and sister Willadean Moore Lancaster.

The family would like to thank both the Cherished Companions and Hospice of Care Corp for their special care during Jack's last days.

A Celebration of Life will be held 7:00 P.M. Friday, September 5, 2014 at Russell Funeral Service, 15670 West High St. (Rt. 87), Middlefield. Visitation will be Friday, 1:00-3:00 PM and 5:00-7:00 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Hospice of Care Corp, 831 South St., Chardon, OH 44024.
