Johnnie D. Cannon, 70 of Kent, passed away Monday, August 25, 2014 at the Cleveland Clinic. He was born June 25, 1944 in Hopkinsville, KY. to the late Seldon D. and E. Christine (Rogers) Cannon. Johnnie has lived in Kent most of his life and had worked as a heavy equipment operator for the US Army and was a chief cook for Hiram College. He served his country with the US Army serving three tours in Vietnam. Johnnie enjoyed spending time with his many friends playing cards, riding his trike, his dogs, fishing and spending time with his grand-kids in the hot tub. He was a member of the Ravenna American Legion and the Italian American Club. Survivors include his children Erick Cannon, Chrystina Cannon, Charlena Cannon, 11 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings Edward Cannon, Allen (Pam) Cannon and Donna Gibbner. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Robert D. Cannon. All are welcome to attend a memorial service at 2:00 PM on Saturday, September 6, 2014 at the First Congregational Church in Ravenna with Pastor Jerry Kruse officiating. Following the services at the church there will be Military Honors by the Ravenna VFW and the US Army. Condolences and memories may be shared with the family at www.sscfuneralhomes.com.
