James A. Cotton, 85, of Kent, died Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at UH Portage Medical Center.
He was born January 24, 1931 in Wheeling, WV to Henry Ewing and Dorothy (Guckert) Cotton. He was a veteran of the Army serving in Germany during the Korean War. James was a member of the Community Baptist Church in Tallmadge and the American Legion.
He is survived by sons, Stephen Cotton of Kent, Timothy (Laura) Cotton of Erie, p.a., and Matthew Cotton of Kent; grandsons, Josh (Mindy) Cotton of Warren, PA and Dan (Deanna) Cotton of Pittston, p.a.; great- grandchildren, Jay Cotton, Emily Cotton, Alena Cotton and Sadie Cotton; nephew, Charles Lewis. He was preceded in death by his wife, Naomi (Black) Cotton; sister and brother-in-law, Jane and Charles Lewis II; and niece, Carolyn Lewis.
Calling hours will be held 7-9 p.m. Friday, December 2 at Bissler & Sons Funeral Home in Kent, where funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, December 3 with Rev. Timothy Cotton and Rev. Doug Knox officiating. Burial will be held at Standing Rock Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Community Baptist Church, 274 N. Munroe Road, Tallmadge, OH 44278.
