Judy (Gilroy) Benich, age 75 of Rootstown, passed away Wednesday, June 14, 2017, while surrounded by her family at the Arbors in Stow.
Judy was born November 1, 1941, in Akron, Ohio, to parents Norman and Mildred (Yehnert) Gilroy. She graduated from Kenmore High School and retired from the Kent State University Foundation, where she worked as an administrative assistant. She was a longtime member of St. Peter of the Fields Parish. In retirement, Judy enjoyed visiting with friends, solving crossword puzzles, and relaxing at home with her beloved dog, Bailey. A devoted wife, loving mother and proud grandmother and great grandmother, Judy cherished time with her loved ones. Always quick with a smile or a kind word, she was known for her warmth, generosity and infectious laugh. She will be missed and remembered for the joy and unconditional love she shared with all who knew her.
She is survived by her children: Michael (Kimberly) Benich of Rootstown, Donna Neveu of North Port, Florida, and Marijean (Johno) Benedik of Ravenna, as well as her grandchildren: Brittney (Miles) Seekford, Candice (fianc Stevie Lockhart) Neveu, Johnny Benedik, and Skylar Benedik, along with great-grandchildren: Ava and Chase Seekford. Judy is also survived by her sister Norma (Charles) Knapp of Akron and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Judy was preceded in death by her husband Matt Benich.
Friends and family will be received Monday, June 19, 2017, from 5:00 8:00 PM at the Wood-Kortright-Borkoski Funeral Home, 703 E. Main St., Ravenna. Visitation will also take place on Tuesday from 10:00 11:00 AM at St. Peter of the Fields Catholic Church, 3487 Old Forge Rd., Rootstown, with a Mass of Christian Burial being celebrated at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at Homeland Cemetery in Rootstown.
