Abortion ends 3,000 lives every day

Published: January 3, 2013 4:00 AM

In a matter of minutes, a madman savagely shoots and slaughters 20 young and innocent children and a nation recoils in horror and mourns -- as it should.

In the United States, every 26 minutes, an innocent baby is aborted. This is accomplished as a surgeon either:

Inserts a hollow tube with a knife-edged tip into the womb and tears the fetus and placenta into small pieces which are sucked into a bottle and discarded;

Uses the teeth of a pair of forceps inserted into the womb to twist and tear the bones until the fetus is totally dismembered, snapping the spine and crushing the skull in order to remove them;

Injects saline solution into the baby's sac, which burns off its outer layer of skin and poisons the baby as it swallows the solution and dies in about an hour and is born dead or dying 24 hours later;

[Article continues below]

Uses special chemicals that cause the uterus to violently contract, expelling the developing fetus, which is often killed by the force of the contractions; or

Cuts the umbilical cord -- the baby's oxygen supply -- while it is still in the womb, causing it to suffocate.

The only reason surgeons no longer pull a baby into the birth canal, delivering all but the head, then opening its skull with scissors so a suction catheter can suck out the brain, collapsing the skull and ending the life, is because this method is banned.

Whether you spell it "f-e-t-u-s" or "c-h-i-l-d," every single day in our country the lives of more than 3,000 innocent babies come to a violent end -- not at the hand of a madman -- but because of the choice of would-be mothers, and a nation nods approvingly while women demand to maintain this "right."

But, oh, how God mourns.

Ms. Reed, you wrote: "Whether you spell it "f-e-t-u-s" or "c-h-i-l-d,"" <<< And therein lays the problem, you're trying to make dissimilar things the same. Next thing we know you'll be trying to make zygote = fetus. You'll also try making conception via Rape = conception via consensual sex. This last one has already been tried. It would be real handy for your argument if you weren't trying to make equal things that aren't the same.

>> They only care till they hit the air << I guess we could take a lesson from the Republican / Bagger play book and dumb it down to easily understood concepts that don't really convey the seriousness of the situation.

Life begins at birth (I have a vague recollection that's kind of what the Christmas celebration is all about). Until such time pregnancy is a woman's health issue and with informed consent the pregnant woman can do with her body as she chooses. All other busy bodies should keep their noses out. End of story!

child, be careful in what you say or do because anything you say or do will reflect to your personality.

Well Cecil, most of the world is not with you on anything, because the majority don't care enough. But why are you basing your beliefs on what others do? If you are doing good, great! Keep trying. By the way, you don't know me nor do you know that I do a lot, but never enough, to assist those who seek help with an unwanted baby; help with expenses toward the birth, housing, food, etc. and yes, even adoption. So your statements below are based on your assumptions which illustrate your bigotry. You should try to correct that and not be so intolerant of others who think differently than you do, even those who don't help others. Pray for them, and I'll pray for you.

factualinfo, your point would be much more poignant if we were to see the numbers of protestors outside of homeless shelters protesting against homelessness, as many people in lines bearing food for food pantries as we see in "pro-life" demonstration rallies. I do a great deal of work for organizations such as these and while some of you are there with me, most of you are not.

ProLife means respecting and caring for the dignity of Life from womb to tomb. The majority of people fighting for the rights of the unborn are also out their fighting for the rights of all the children in this world. Plus all the adults in this world in crisis as well. It's very assumptive of someone to assume that ProLife people only care about and support the abortion issue. That just is not true.

Go talk to organizations like Catholic Charities and see what they do for all people who struggle. As many other organizations do good works as well. These organizations are supported by people and many of those people are ProLife advocates. They reach out and help so many people, and to believe that ProLife only cares about abortion is a statement made by people who are grossly misinformed.

Plus, people are misinformed if they think that having an abortion will prevent abused and unwanted children. If that was the case, then why are there so many abused and unwanted children if their mothers could have just gotten an abortion. The two aspects do not go hand in hand. One does not have a cause and effect on the other one.

But for people to ignore that so many babies are aborted every day, shows a desensitization to the value of all life.

Lumbay, when it's a zygote it's a political football used for anti hormonal / IUD birth control, when it's a fetus its a political football used for anti-abortion, and when its born its a political football used in what your getting at. They push for the child to come to being then whine about the child being, they only believe in the sanctity of life till that life hits the air. The reproductive process is nothing but a political football. Lets not forget that in 2006 the Department of Health and Human Services wanted to make "Abstinence till 30" the official Government position. Really. Thing is if these people put as much energy into preventing pregnancies in a realistic manner as they put into stopping abortion abortion would pretty much not be an issue. But then they would lose a political football.

This letter is good. But Cecil's letter is better. Where are you when these unwanted children are born? Where are you when these children are starving because their parents are off shooting up or trading their child for drugs? Where are you when they are crying for shelter? Where are you? Where are you when life is not worth living? Where are you when prison is the best option since birth? Where are you when an innocent baby grows up and learns no one cares and they lose their innocence? Where is your compassion when they rob you? How many homeless children/families are you housing? Where are you when they have no diapers, no shoes, no boots? Well where are you????????????????

http://www.statisticbrain.com/world-hunger-statistics/ 15 million CHILDREN die every year from hunger or hunger related causes. How many have you fed today?

How many children die from gun accidents? http://www.childrensdefense.org/child-research-data-publications/data/protect-children-not-guns-2012.pdf How have you worked to prevent this?

How many children are homeless in the US? http://www.shineglobal.org/index.php/hero-of-the-week/inocente/homelessness-for-children-in-the-us-some-startling-statistics/ How have you worked to help them?

How many abused/neglected children are there in the U.S.? http://www.americanhumane.org/children/stop-child-abuse/fact-sheets/child-abuse-and-neglect-statistics.html What have YOU done today to help them?

How many abandoned children are there? http://www.huffingtonpost.com/kate-moulene/americas-abandoned-childr_b_867265.html How many of them have YOU adopted?

It seems that you people who worry so much about the unborn cease to care about the born once they leave the womb. HOW is this being pro-life?

Difficult to read, but unfortunately true. The 3,000+ babies killed every day are from all over the USA. In Akron, Ohio there are 8 to 12 babies killed EVERY DAY, as a convenience to the baby's parents. When an unwanted pregnancy results, it's because women choose to not use birth control, to be careless, or to not care at all. This is not how birth control was supposed to work! Every day in Akron, babies are done away with. If they were a year older, it would be front page news, as it should be. Where is the horror? Where are our values? And when will God say "ENOUGH!"
