Tea Party: Sequestration doesn't mean cutting the budget

Published:

Listen to them whine in Washington about the "cuts" from sequestration. The president is acting just like a local school board that threatens to cut sports and busing whenever citizens will not pass their levy. It's a tactic that years of taxpayer-funded research by union thugs has perfected to intimidate you, the taxpayer, and it works on the uninformed.

So, our "community organizer" president says that if the sequestration, which was designed by his White House staff, becomes law, we will not be able to fund the defense of our nation. Then amazingly, just days later, we get leaked news stories saying that "we cannot afford to refuel our aircraft carriers" because of sequestration. And then days after that, the Army starts leaking stories about not having the money to train and equip our troops. It is shameful behavior and insulting to everyone who pays taxes. It certainly is not leadership.

The complicit media, in this mis-information campaign, rushes to put out the aircraft carrier story, but not one report asks how much it costs to refuel an aircraft carrier. My one minute of research suggests that it would cost about $24 million to buy the 4 million gallons of fuel the U.S.S. Kitty Hawk can carry. That compares with an annual defense budget of $683.7 billion. So, fueling the carrier is the equivalent of your spending $1.75 if you make $50,000 per year. These "stories" are designed to deceive, not inform, the people and they do.

The vast majority of citizens have no idea that the "cuts" in sequestration are not cuts at all, but instead decreases in planned increases in spending! That is what Washington calls a cut and we all call an increase. Citizens are on your own to fight through the media noise and the White House and government lies to figure out that what they are crying about is not a cut of a trillion dollars in one year, but instead annual cuts of $86 billion in already-planned increases each of the next 10 years. That at the end of the 10 years we will increase our national debt by at least $7 trillion more and spend more than $1.5 trillion more than we take in each of those next 10 years.

While I was trying to get the weather forecast, the left-owned Weather Channel had an entire segment talking about how the sequestration "cuts" will make weather forecasts by NOAA, the government weather agency, less accurate which will hurt the economy and even endanger lives! Then the president went on TV to use police officers and firemen as props to warn that public safety will be at risk if these draconian "cuts" are implemented. Lies, all lies.

None, none, of these things need to happen because "We the People" pay plenty of taxes to fuel our aircraft carriers, equip our troops, fund our government. They will happen only when our elected officials turn on the people by not doing their job of making the decisions that best benefit the people of the United States. Not that best benefit themselves and their crony friends.

How can we respect, or more importantly, support a government that intentionally misuses words and numbers to deceive us, intimidate us and scare us into supporting unnecessary taxes and spending that are harmful to us personally and to our nation? The answer is that we cannot. We must instead fight such a "government" with all our resources.

Only "We the People", by forcing our current representatives, through phone calls, emails and personal visits this month, will get them to implement sequestration. Sequestration is the best chance we have had in a very long time to slow the growth of government. Please spread the word to everyone you know and let's make sure this happens.

Worth repeating over and over and over again. Instaed we continue to get obama rhetoric saying fire fighters, policemen , sick, poor and elderly are going to be neglected and put out of work!
