I am writing this letter in support of the Ravenna Schools' 4.9-mill combination continuing levy. The district has not received additional tax dollars since 2005 and the funds are needed for a variety of purposes. Permanent improvements to our older buildings would be done with 1.9 mills. Additional school safety would use 1 mill. Added technology would use 1 mill, and 1 mill would restore lost programs, such as foreign language and other electives.
Great schools are the backbone of a strong community. We should be proud of the number of skilled professionals that have been educated in our schools and gone on to additional education and training after graduation. Ravenna can claim several doctors, dentists, lawyers, teachers and world-class bankers. In addition, many graduates work in technical professions. These are great success stories right here in our community.
I have spent my adult life in public service to the Ravenna community and as executive director of the Ravenna Area Chamber of Commerce, I endorse the passage of this levy on Nov. 5.

Sorry Jack. After the tax increases from obamacare and increased health care premium increases...there isn't any mony left. You can only squeeze some much blood from a turnip.
