Kent chamber honoree grateful

Published:

Having recently received the 2013 Kent Area Chamber of Commerce W.W. Reed Medal for Public Service, the highest Chamber award, I have had cause to reflect on the last several decades. It is important to note that especially influential to the develop and continuation of the Kent Chamber of Commerce was Dawn Carpenter, who worked diligently with our chamber boards during the 1980s to overcome conservative membership and dues, contributing to the continuation of our Chamber into 2014, our 104th year.

The committees, organizations and members with whom I have worked span several generations. All of us working side-by-side toward various goals -- all for the benefit of Kent and our citizenry. I have had tremendous opportunities over the years to work for the betterment of Kent, but only because of my dedicated friends. Thank you to all of you from the bottom of my heart. It is so fantastic that we all work toward goals together to continue to make Kent, Ohio, our home, a wonderful place to laugh, love and live.
