Make an investment in Portage parks

Especially being from Garrettsville, I am aware that these times are very tight for many here and throughout the county. And first, I want to thank everyone who has stepped to the plate for my hometown. We are a strong community and will recover.

As we do, I also want to encourage everyone to think about what just $1.50 per month (or $17.50 per year for $100,000 property valuation) in support of our county parks could bring to all.

It will buy you a membership in the county's best recreational facility. You will have access to all the facilities and services that the county has to offer.

You will be a part of keeping our water supply safe, because conserving land protects water quality by filtering pollution and reducing storm water runoff. You will help the county bring more park and recreational services to more areas of our county.

You will be a participant in the economic recovery of our county because parks have been shown to contribute to economic development efforts.

You will help increase our property values because houses close to parks increase in value.

And, you will be doing the right thing for Portage County by protecting its natural resources.

Please vote "Yes" on Issue 10 on May 6. It's the natural choice.

Sorry Tom I have to vote NO, Your 17.50 a year sounds not much to you but where I live in Portage county Its been $135 income tax a year for a Police Station, $120 a year for a property tax for Police levey,  then a health levey and add that to what Im am paying already. sorry Im tapped out.  Oh I forgot I have a $365 a year school levey on the ballot in May too.
