As I take my runs in the beautiful bike paths I often comment to myself on the wonderful recreational options we now have in Portage County. Families often use the many trails while exercising or just being together. Thanks to the Portage Park District we many beautiful and natural pathways to improve our health and be with nature.
It is my understanding that the long-term outlook for our Portage Park District is a critical issue for Portage County. I believe we must invest in the Portage Park District so they can meet basic operations, expand recreational facilities, and serve as a partner in our economic development efforts.
Investing in our parks is a great value. For less than $1.50 per month per $100,000 property valuation, we can open more parks, develop more hike and bike trails, and better maintain what we have.
We have a choice on May 6 to invest in a park system that serves so many in our county and attracts so many visitors. I encourage you to make it to the polls and support Issue 10 on May 6.
