I am a life-long Portage County resident who is deeply concerned about funding for our Portage Park District.
Our park district has had its budget cut by 56 percent over the last 6 years. It is surviving based on donations and grants.
Portage parks needs operating dollars in their budget to compete for additional grants and funds to maintain them. Without these operating dollars, millions of dollars in grants are going to other counties.
In addition, the Portage park system is a great place for seniors (that's me) to participate in recreation and create memories with their children and grandchildren.
The Portage Park District deserves all of our support to be able to better maintain and improve them. Please vote yes on Issue 10 on May 6.
Keep our Park District strong.

A flat tax of $10 per person in Portage county would generate $1.614 million.
