Portage planner urges levy support

Published: May 1, 2014 4:00 AM

Being the director of the Portage County Regional Planning Commission, it's my responsibility to assist Portage County, its townships, villages and cities to help them serve their residents in the best way they can.

One unifying feature that can strengthen all our communities is the Portage Park District.

Parks are important for all of us. They provide places for recreation, socialization, exploration, conservation, nature appreciation and education. They help protect and restore our natural resources. Trails connect communities on a local and regional scale. Communities are made better by a strong park system.

We can do so much for the Portage Park District and our communities with just a little investment. Please consider voting "Yes" on Issue 10 on May 6.

Todd Peetz, Director

Portage County Regional Planning Commission

I fully support any tax that is imposed on every man, woman and child in portage county. Put that up for a vote. $10 per resident will provide $1.6 million.

Send the parks your donations now. Don't wait for an unjust tax to be implemented.

Q. Mr. Peetz, is it best to have repaired roads and bridges for all Portage County residents, or paved hike/bike trails through the woods for the few?
