On behalf of the Kent Area Chamber of Commerce and Kent United Service Organizations (KUSO), I would like to publicly thank anyone and everyone that helped make the 19th Annual Kent Heritage Festival such a tremendous success. I was amazed at the size of the crowd that was constant throughout the beautiful day that showcased downtown Kent, its businesses, local talent and over 140 vendors.
The festival runs solely on vendor fees and donations from sponsors. The planning committee volunteers countless hours coordinating Kent's biggest community event, starting with monthly meetings in January. To try and thank everyone that was involved, would be an impossible task and I know I would unintentionally forget someone. However, without the assistance and guidance of city officials and administrators, as well as our sponsors, this year's festival wouldn't have been the success it was.
Most of all I'd like to thank the record crowd of visitors that made downtown Kent their destination on Saturday and patronized the downtown businesses and vendors who invested in booth space, as well as listened to the local, talented performers who entertained them throughout the day. Each and every vendor was asked for feedback and overwhelmingly responded positively about the size of the crowd and sales.
Special thanks to Woodsy's, Hall-Green Agency and Star of the West Milling Co. for sponsoring the climbing wall new to the festival this year. It along with relocating the children's games area to North Water Street had an amazing impact on the food vendor sales. Thanks also to NAPA for being the title sponsor of this year's car show.
I hope the residents, neighbors, visitors and business owners of Kent enjoyed this year's Kent Heritage Festival. Thanks again for all of your continued support, and helping to make Kent a great place to live, work, play and do business!
