On behalf of the entire Hamilton family we would like to express our thanks and appreciation to the greater northeast Ohio community for their continued support of The Hammy, an annual CrossFit and 5K event held to celebrate the life of our son and brother U.S. Army Specialist Adam S. Hamilton.
This year's event was held on May 20 at the Kent State University Field House. The event was an overwhelming success and the proceeds benefit the Adam S. Hamilton Academic and Athletic Scholarship Fund. This year marked the 7th year that The Hammy has been held and to date 12 scholarships totaling $120,000 have been awarded to deserving Kent Roosevelt High School seniors.
Our goal is to expand the number of scholarships that are awarded each year. We would also like to thank all of our sponsors. A special thank you is extended to the event sponsors CrossFit Cadre, Isagenix (Andrea Colecchi, Independent Associate) and The Burbick Foundation, as well as, Advocare, the sponsor of the 5K. The success of The Hammy is a direct result of your financial support. Any event of this size and scope relies heavily on work of volunteers.
From the bottom of hearts we thank all of the volunteers who contributed countless hours of their time in helping organize and run the event. Many of you have been involved as volunteers from the very beginning. Your efforts help us keep alive the memory of Adam and carry on his legacy of service to the community and the country. We would also like to thank Kent State University for their support and for allowing us to use the Field House for this event. We have already started planning for next year so please mark your calendars for May 19, 2018, and join us at The Hammy.
