First, I can't believe a special election in August will be run for this levy with only one issue. What an unnecessary expense to the Crestwood School district! I realize that the thinking probably is the levy could pass 'quietly' in the summer with much fewer voters. But a November General election would have cost the district nothing, or at least much less than a special election in August.
If the levy was high school only, we would be inclined to support it. Adding on the 'wing' for middle school 7 and 8 grades only, makes me vote "no." The middle school building is fine. I don't see the necessity of building a new 'wing' with a duplicate cafeteria, a duplicate gym and duplicate band and art room. The worse part is moving sixth-graders into the Bowen Road schools with elementary kids.
Let the middle school stay as is. Pare down the cost for a one building high school, change the cost structure and run it in the November election. It might pass then.
