ONLINE PRIVACY POLICY

Effective Date: February 15, 2016

This Privacy Policy describes how Dix Communications collects, uses, and shares information about you that we obtain when you use our websites (collectively, the “Sites”). In some cases we may provide you notice of different or additional privacy policies or practices on a given Site, in which case those additional terms shall govern the data collection and use at issue.

Please note that our Sites may contain hyperlinks to other websites or online locations that are operated and controlled by third parties (“Third Party Websites”). As discussed below, we make no representations regarding the policies or business practices of such Third Party Websites, and encourage you to familiarize yourself with their privacy policies regarding the collection and use of your information.

Information collection

Information You Provide to Us

We collect information you provide directly to us through the Sites. For example, we may collect information from you through web forms, including when you register to use the Sites, when you subscribe to receive our publications, fill out “Contact Us” forms, or when you otherwise interact with the Sites. The information we collect may include Personal Information, which is information that can be used to identify you, such as your first and last name, e-mail address, phone number, birth date, mailing address, demographic information, or any other identifying information you choose to provide.

In addition, on certain Sites you may be able to submit your own content, such as messages, text, photos, commentary, responses, reviews, questions, suggestions, or other types of information that you generate (for example, through a message board or in a comments section). Please see our Terms of Service for more information about how we (and other parties) may use this information.

Information Automatically Collected Through the Sites

Usage information may be collected automatically when you access or use the Sites. For example, automated technologies may collect your IP address, the URL that referred you to the Site, your operating system characteristics, demographic information, and data regarding the device you’re using to access the Sites (e.g., computer or mobile device). Usage information about your device could include the unique device identifier, type, model, version, MAC address, device or session ID, error related data status, performance data, mobile network information, and connection type.

Automatically-collected usage information also may include details about how you use the Sites, such as clickstream data, which is information about the page-by-page paths you take as you browse through the Sites, data you enter, selections you make, and other actions on the Sites.

We use a variety of tracking technologies that automatically (or passively) collect and store usage information. Below are brief descriptions of some of the tracking technologies we may use on the Sites.

Log Information.  We log basic information about your use of the Sites, such as the type of browser you use, access times, pages viewed, your IP address, and the referring link through which you accessed the Sites.

Cookies.  A cookie is a data file placed on a computer when it is used to visit a website. Cookies may be used for various purposes, including, for example, to track user preferences or web pages visited. A Flash cookie (or local shared object) is a data file placed by the Adobe Flash plug-in. To identify Flash Cookies on your computer, and adjust your settings, please visit: www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_manager.html

Web Beacons.  Small graphic images or other web programming code called web beacons (also known as “Internet tags” or “clear GIFs”) may be included on our Sites. Web beacons may be invisible to you, but any electronic image or other web programming code inserted into a page or e-mail can act as a web beacon. Web beacons or similar technologies may be used for a number of purposes, including, for example, to count visitors, to monitor how users navigate a website, to count the number of e-mails that were actually opened by recipients, or to count how many articles or links were actually viewed.

Embedded Scripts.  An embedded script is programming code that is designed to collect information about your interactions with a website, such as the links you click and pages you visit. Typically, such code is downloaded from a web server to a computer, but it is active only while you are connected to a website, and the script is deactivated or deleted thereafter.

For example, when you complete an online form to subscribe to our publications, you may be directed to a Third Party Website to process the payment transaction. In addition, we may provide third party interfaces to facilitate communications such as e-mails, “likes”, “Tweets”, and posting of comments on Facebook or other social media platforms. These third parties may share information they collect or have collected about you with the Sites.

We encourage you to note when you leave our Sites, review the privacy policies of all Third Party Websites you visit, and exercise caution in connection with your use of those websites. We make no representations regarding the policies or business practices of Third Party Websites, and we are not responsible for the data collection and privacy practices employed by third parties.

ADVERTISING & ANALYTICS SERVICES AND ONLINE TRACKING

We engage third parties to serve advertisements on our behalf across the Internet and to provide analytics about the use of our Sites. In addition, we may participate in online advertising networks and exchanges that display relevant advertising to visitors to the Sites based on their interests as reflected in their browsing activities. These entities may use certain tracking technologies, such as cookies, web beacons, pixels and other technologies to automatically collect information about your use of the Sites or Third Party Websites, such as your IP address, websites visited, pages views, and links clicked.

Some of your browsing information for the Sites and for Third Party Websites may be shared with the ad networks and exchanges to enable these companies to serve you with focused ads based on your interest, also known as interest-based ads or retargeting, and we may receive some of the information about Third Party Websites you have visited from these companies.

Note that your browser may allow you to transmit a “Do Not Track” signal to our Sites. There is no consensus among industry participants as to what “Do Not Track” means in this context. Like many websites and online services, our Sites are not designed to respond to “Do Not Track” signals received from browsers. To find out more about “Do Not Track” you may wish to visit http://www.allaboutdnt.com.
