Portage churches plan VBS events

Aurora

HIS Ministry Church, 3051 S.R. 82 in Aurora, will hold "Operation Arctic" vacation Bible school from 9 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. June 26 to 30 for children ages 4 to those who just completed the seventh grade. A closing program will be held at 7 p.m. June 30. The program will feature lessons, songs, games, refreshments, crafts and science experiments. For more information, call 330-562-1212/

Deerfield

Deerfield Friends Church, 1261 S.R. 14, will hold vacation Bible school, "Barnyard Roundup: Jesus Gathers Us Together," from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. June 19 to 23 for ages 3 years old through the fifth grade. Dinner will be served each evening for the children. For more information, call 330-584-6777.

Kent

The United Methodist Church of Kent, 1435 E. Main St. will hold "HERO CENTRAL: Discover your strength in God!" vacation Bible school from 9:30 a.m. to noon June 12 to 16 for children ages 3 through the sixth grade. Students will go on adventures alongside Biblical heroes and discover the qualities that make them truly heroes of God. Parents can register children online at www.kentmethodist.org, or by stopping in the church office, open every weekday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Children can also register at the door on the first day, starting at 9 a.m. For more information call 330-673-5879, ext. 12.

First Christian Church, 335 W. Main St. in Kent, will hold "Hero Central" vacation Bible school from 6:15 to 8:15 p.m. July 10 to 13 for children ages 3 through 12. Friendship Bible Church, 1703 S.R. 44 in Randolph will hold Firehouse Adventure Vacation Bible School for children ages 4 to 12 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. June 19 to 23. Learn to fight the fires of evil and how to "fireproof" yourself through Jesus Christ. Packed with fun skits, music, crafts, games and more. St. Paul Lutheran Church, 170 N. Freedom St., Ravenna will hold a "Sail the Deep C's" nautical-themed vacation Bible school from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. June 26 to 29 for children in pre-kindergarten through the sixth grade. Maplewood Christian Church, 7300 S.R. 88 in Ravenna, will hold a "Hero Central VBS 2017" vacation Bible school from 5:45 to 8:30 p.m. July 10 to 14 for children ages 3 to 14. This adventure will include music, science, crafts, recreation, and Bible stories to help kids discover their strength in God. Rootstown

The Rootstown United Methodist Church, 4065 S.R. 44, will hold "Maker Fun Factory" vacation Bible school from 9:30 a.m. to noon June 19 to 23 for children from kindergarten through the fifth grade.

The First Congregational United Church of Christ, 4022 S.R. 44, Rootstown, will hold "Son World Adventure Park" vacation Bible school from 6 to 8:30 p.m. June 19 to June 23 for children ages 3 to 12. There will be singing, skits, crafts, stories, games and refreshments as well as various booths of amusement park games. There will also be a canned goods collection for the Haven of Rest Ministries in Akron. A VBS program for family, friends and the community will be held at 8:15 p.m. June 23 and during the 9:45 a.m. worship service on June 25. Streetsboro

Faith Baptist Church of Streetsboro, 9890 S.R. 43 will hold a "Lego Camp" vacation Bible school from 6 to 7:30 p.m. July 11 to 13 for children ages through those who have just finished the sixth grade.The camp will emphasize learning to build on God's Word, games, videos, mission offerings, snacks, and daily Lego building challenges. Suffield

Suffield United Church of Christ, 1115 S.R. 43 in Suffield, will hold "Hero Central: Discover Your Strength in God!" vacation Bible school from 9 to 11:30 a.m. June 19 to 23 for ages 3 to 12.
