Molnar and Murgatroyd will both continue to serve in the same capacity as they did under former head coach Jim Corrigall.
Molnar, a member of Corrigall's original 1994 staff, has served as Kent State's offensive coordinator the past two seasons. During that period, the Flashes have finished among the top three in the MAC in total offense while scoring an average of 27 points per game.
Murgatroyd, the recruiting coordinator under Corrigall since 1995, has continued to recruit players since Corrigall's dismissal.
The rest of Pees' staff has not been formed yet.
"I will interview all the assistants on the former coaching staff that wish to be interviewed," Pees said on Wednesday. "But I really can't say at this time how many I'll retain. I have already contacted several people with tremendous experience that want to be a part of this, so I'm confident we'll put together a great staff."
Pees, currently the defensive coordinator at Michigan State, is in Hawaii with the Spartans, who will play Washington in the Aloha Bowl on Christmas day. He is expected to arrive in Kent to begin preparations for the 1998 season on Dec. 27.
