This meeting of long-time rivals was a completely one-sided affair. The Rough Riders scored early and often, dominating every aspect of the game.

A question mark going into the game for Kent Roosevelt was the suspension of starting goalkeeper Pete Vaccaro. Ian Stewart got the start, but did not see much action. Ravenna was limited to only one shot on goal for the game.

"Going into the game I stressed not taking them (Ravenna) lightly," said Kent Roosevelt coach Chris Vanderneut. "We have been playing well lately and this is a league game. The guys were up for it and they did the job."

Kent Roosevelt did the job indeed. Four minutes into the game the Rough Riders got on the board as Will Kletzien (2 goals, 5 assists), on his way to a huge game, put a deep shot into the net to put Kent Roosevelt on top. The Rough Riders never looked back.

Two minutes later Matt Milcetich (3 goals, 1 assist) added to the Kent Roosevelt lead by putting a header past Ravenna goalkeeper Jim Serva to start the onslaught that would follow. Four goals later, the half ended with Kent Roosevelt on top 6-0.

The second half was more of the same for the Rough Riders. Milcetich again found the goal after 10 minutes as the Rough Riders began to open the lead again.

Seven more Kent Roosevelt shots hit the back of the net before it was over.

"I understand that they are upset," said Vanderneut of the Ravens. "We only had six subs and they all played. What can I say to a kid who works hard all week in practice, roll over? The goals we scored were not cheap. I just hope there is no hard feelings for them or their coaches."

Ravenna coach Larry Suba refused comment.

Outstanding performers for Kent Roosevelt were plentiful. Milcetich and Dan Loughry each notched a hat trick with their three goals. Kletzien led all performers in statistics, recording two goals and five assists.

"(Kletzien) got everyone involved," said Vanderneut.
