Kent State women's basketball coach Danielle O'Banion inks three recruits

Record-Courier Staff Report Published:

First-year Kent State women’s basketball coach Danielle O’Banion announced Wednesday that the Golden Flashes have signed three student-athletes for the 2013-2014 season.

Three high school seniors will join the Kent State program next fall. The 2013 signees are Emily Leonard (Miamisburg, Ohio), Larissa Lurken (Cottage Grove, Minn.,) and Krista White (Dayton, Ohio).

Leonard is a 6-foot-2 power forward from Miamisburg High School, Lurken is a 5-10 guard from Park High School and White is a 5-8 guard at Chaminade-Julienne High School.

“I am very excited about all three of our early signees,” said O’Banion. “Emily and Krista are recognized as standouts in the Dayton area, and we are excited to continue the recent trend of attracting in-state talent to Kent. Larissa becomes our second Minnesotan (joins freshman, Heather Bachman) on the roster, which points to the reestablishment of KSU Women’s Basketball as a national brand.

“Throughout the recruiting process, these three young ladies consistently demonstrated the skills necessary to compete at a championship level and a strong desire to play an integral role in our program’s success.”
