Janet Kittell was named Kent State Senior Woman Administrator on Thursday.
With over 30 years of intercollegiate administration and coaching experience, Kittell joins the Golden Flashes staff and will supervise 15 of Kent State's 18 intercollegiate athletic programs.
"I am excited and grateful for the opportunity to work with great people at Kent State University," Kittell said. "I want to extend special thanks to Director of Athletics Joel Nielsen and Faculty Athletics Representative Kathy Wilson for allowing me to be a part of the academically and athletically successful program here at Kent State."
Most recently, Kittell spent five years at Indiana University, where she oversaw 14 of the Hoosiers' 24 intercollegiate sports programs. While in Bloomington, Kittell was integral in two key facility construction projects: the Ireland Family Field House for field hockey and the Cecil W. Weathers Golf Team Center. Kittell initiated and supervised both projects from start to finish.
Kittell also helped facilitate the revival of Indiana's track and volleyball programs, and oversaw the Indiana University Golf Course, strength and conditioning, sports medicine and training, drug testing and the equipment room.
Prior to her stint at Indiana, Kittell served as the Associate Director of Athletics for Operations at Syracuse University for 11 years. Kittell oversaw the daily operation of the athletics department and 19 sports programs. During Kittell's tenure, Syracuse added three women's sports (soccer, lacrosse, softball).
Kittell steps in following the retirement of Cathy O'Donnell.
