CRESTWOOD 58, ROOTSTOWN 30
A 19-4 scoring run in the second quarter allowed the host Red Devils to open a 20-point halftime lead and coast to a PTC cross-division win over the Rovers.
Crestwood (1-0) led 14-9 after one quarter before breaking the game open in the second period.
Jacob Klock, Trevor Sweet and Jacob Graves all had 13 points for the Red Devils.
Andrew Mazur and Connor Formick had 14 and 11 points, respectively, for Rootstown (0-1).
FIELD 63, KIDRON CENTRAL CHRISTIAN 59
Macklin Coleman scored eight fourth-quarter points, including the bucket that gave the host Falcons their first lead of the game as Field hung on to capture a season-opening non-league win over the Comets.
Kidron led 45-42 heading into the final quarter, but Field outscored the visitors 21-14 in the final eight minutes to pull out the win.
Steve Fosnight led the Falcons with 16 points, Coleman added 12 points and a team-high seven rebounds, while Austin Sparks chipped in with 11 tallies for Field.
Josh Woodrich had a game-high 24 points for Kidron Central Christian.
COVENTRY 52, SOUTHEAST 50
The host Comets built an early 13-point lead, then had to hold off a furious fourth-period rally by the Pirates for a PTC cross-division win in the season opener for each team Friday night.
Coventry raced out to a 24-11 first-quarter lead and had a 36-25 advantage heading into the final stanza.
The Pirates then came to life, outscoring the Comets 25-16 over the final eight minutes, but came up just two points short of tying the contest.
Trevor Norquest led Southeast with 16 points, including four 3-pointers, while Jordan Krych and Nathan Simyak added 13 and 10 points, respectively.
Jimmy Holmgren had a game-high 17 points to pace the Comets.
NORTON 87, WATERLOO 58
The Panthers jumped out to an early lead and had little trouble downing the host Vikings in a PTC cross-division contest.
Norton had three players in double figures and dominated the backboards, outrebounding Waterloo 40-19.
The Panthers held leads of 16-6 after one quarter and 38-19 at intermission.
Aaron VanBuskirk scored 20 points and Tyler Sherman added 19 points and 16 rebounds to pace Norton, while Justin Blanks had 10 points.
Waterloo got 17 points from Collin Michalec and 10 points from Jacob Flarida.
CVCA 64, WOODRIDGE 47
The host Royals pulled away in the second half by outscoring the Bulldogs 29-19 over the final two quarters to capture a season-opening non-league victory.
CVCA led 35-28 at halftime before catching fire in the final 16 minutes to put the game in the win column.
Bob Peters scored a game-high 24 points for the Royals, while Nelson Perry and Anthony Mong led Woodridge with 17 and 16 points, respectively.
