The host Rockets took an early lead and then blew the game open with a 29-point fourth quarter to cruise past the Spartans in the opening PTC Metro Division contest for each school on Friday.

Streetsboro (2-0, 1-0) took a 16-2 lead after one quarter and extended the margin to 48-19 heading into the final eight minutes.

Jordan Matusik poured in a game-high 26 points, including four 3-pointers. The Rockets canned nine shots from behind the arc for the game,

Paul Jenkins and Devin Rencher added 14 and 13 points each for Streetsboro, who saw all 10 players break into the scoring column.

Jacob Kitchens had 11 points to pace Springfield (1-2, 0-1).

COVENTRY 54, CRESTWOOD 51

The host Comets built a 10-point lead through three quarters, but had to hold off a fourth-quarter rally by the Red Devils to capture a PTC Metro Division win.

Both teams had 17 field goals and Crestwood (2-1, 0-1) had five more free throws, but Coventry (3-0, 1-0) connected on eight 3-point shots, while the Red Devils failed to hit a shot from behind the arc and that proved to be the difference in the contest.
