Record-Courier staff report
Fans of the Kent State University football team will get their opportunity to give the Flashes an official sendoff on Wednesday.
Before the team heads to Mobile, Ala., to compete in the GoDaddy.com Bowl against Arkansas State on Jan. 6, the team and head coach Darrell Hazell will be part of an evening of events.
It all begins at 5 p.m. at the Laziza restaurant, located at 195 E. Erie St. in Acorn Alley of downtown Kent, when fans can pick up a free commemorative postseason poster and collect autographs from coach Hazell and members of the team.
Following the autograph session, fans will be directed to the corner of Erie Street and Water Street for a flag-changing ceremony atop the AMETEK building. AMETEK will change out its international flags, which represent the nine countries where the firm has manufacturing operations, in exchange of Kent State flags.
Following the flag ceremony, fans are invited to the Water Street Tavern for the Portage Community Bank Bowl Preview Show, which is scheduled to go from 6 to 8 p.m. and will include Hazell, members of the KSU athletic department and distinguished guests from the Kent business community.
