High School Roundup (Dec. 19): Heller, Isler deliver in clutch for Windham win

GIRLS BASKETBALL

WINDHAM 51, MOGADORE 49

The Bombers' Dari Heller nailed a 3-pointer with 37 seconds left to tie the game, then Jessica Isler sank two free throws with 15.1 seconds remaining to give Windham the lead in a PTC County Division win over the visiting Wildcats.

Isler scored 22 points to lead the Bombers (4-5, 3-2) and hit four 3-pointers, while Heller finished with 15 points.

Brinkley Harvey led Mogadore (1-7, 0-5) with 22 points, including six 3-pointers, followed by Grace Reilly with 15 points.

WATERLOO 47, EAST CANTON 27

Jamie Willis scored 17 points to lead the host Vikings past East Canton in a PTC County Division contest.

Megan Forney added 10 points for Waterloo (4-2, 4-1).

Brianna Payne paced East Canton (2-6, 0-5) with 11 points.

FIELD 42, STREETSBORO 35

Camille Adelman scored 16 points and grabbed seven rebounds to lead the visiting Falcons to a PTC Metro win over the Rockets.

Tiffany Spaller added 11 points for Field (6-1, 4-1).

Alison Targosky and Marra Woods each scored eight points for Streetsboro (2-6, 1-4), while Shania Williams had five rebounds.

NORTON 64, CRESTWOOD 40

Cara Cook had 19 points, 13 rebounds and four assists to lead the host Panthers to a PTC Metro victory over the Red Devils.

Jaclyn Fortner added 12 points and six rebounds for Norton (7-2, 5-0), while Brooke Robinson had 11 points, five steals, five rebounds and four assists.

Holly Hoffman scored 21 points for Crestwood (4-3, 2-3).

WOODRIDGE 47, ROOTSTOWN 36

The visiting Bulldogs used a 13-7 fourth-period scoring edge to break away from a 34-29 lead after three quarters and beat the Rovers in a PTC County Division game.

Lizzie Wilkinson led all scorers in the game with 20 points for Woodridge (3-5, 3-2 County).

Brandi Barkhurst scored 14 points for Rootstown (4-4, 2-3).

KENT ROOSEVELT 58, SPRINGFIELD 33

The visiting Rough Riders raced out to a 16-2 lead after one quarter and coasted to a PTC Metro win over the Spartans.

Megan Thomas scored 12 points to lead Roosevelt (4-4, 3-2), while Brianna Rock scored 11 points.

Sam Karas had 13 points for Springfield (1-6, 0-5).

GIRLS BOWLING

SPRINGFIELD 2,043, KENT ROOSEVELT 1,890

The Springfield Lady Spartans are 2-0 in PTC Metro Division competition, beating the Kent Roosevelt Lady Rough Riders 2,043 to 1,890 at Bill White's Akron Lanes.

The Lady Spartans were led by Amanda Smith and Savannah Nestor. Smith rolled a 204 game as Nestor captured high series honors for the Lady Spartans with a 333 that included a 167 game.

Kent Roosevelt's Trayce Harris tossed the high game and series of the match, bowling a 211 game on her way to a 373 series.

Springfield is now 7-2 overall. Kent picked up its first loss in the conference and is 1-2 in the PTC Metro and 6-2 overall.

EAST CANTON 1,462, STREETSBORO 1,375

The Lady Hornets and Lady Rockets had a close match at Kent Lanes with East Canton coming out on top by 87 pins.

The Lady Hornets' Sadie Knepper rolled the high game and series of the match, tossing a 135 game and earning a two-game set of 247.

For the Rockets, Sarah Yonish tied Knepper for high series, bowling a 117 high game.

BOYS BOWLING

KENT ROOSEVELT 2,424, SPRINGFIELD 2,413

The Rough Riders ended upon the positive side of a close match, beating the tough Springfield Spartans at Bill White's Akron Lanes by 21 pins.

Two Kent bowlers hit the 400 series mark: Joey Swanson 212-414 and Brandon Klembus 222-405.

Springfield's Garrett Masters got back on track with a 415 series that included a 213 game, with Matt Riddle adding a 211-410.

EAST CANTON 2,327, STREETSBORO 1,860

The Rockets and Hornets battled it out at Kent Lanes with East Canton coming out on top in a PTC cross-division match.

East Canton's Isaac Haas rolled a nice 230 game and earned high-series honors for a two-game set of 412. Nick Wagner added a 218-399.

For the Rockets, Tyler Fleming must missed a 200 game by one pin and Brad Wolfe tossed a 196 game on his way to a 344 series.
