Despite having an eight point lead with seven minutes to play in the game, Kent State (1-11) let the game slip away, 60-51 to give Robert Morris (1-10) their first victory of the season.
With the game tied at 42 with 9:28 left on the clock, Robert Morris went on a 15-4 run, including 11 points by Artemis Spanou, to hand Kent State their defeat. The Flashes committed 24 turnovers in the game, resulting in 23 points for the Colonials.
Trisha Krewson led Kent State with 12 points and seven rebounds. Amber Dunlap netted eleven points in the first start of her Kent State career.
Spanou had nearly half of Robert Morris's total points, scoring 28 with 16 rebounds. Ten of those came on the offensive end. Spanou also had seven steals.
Kent State kicks off the new year at home against Bethune-Cookman on Wednesday (Jan. 2). Game time is 7:00 pm.
