GIRLS BASKETBALL

MOGADORE 61, WATERLOO 56

The host Wildcats rallied from an early six-point deficit to pick up their first win of the season on Saturday.

Waterloo (5-4, 4-2) led 21-15 after one quarter, cut the Wildcats (1-9, 1-4) went on a 14-7 run in the second period to take a 29-28 halftime lead.

The teams both scored 14 points in the third quarter, but Mogadore put the game away by outscoring the Vikings 18-14 in the final eight minutes.

Grace Reilly led the Wildcats with 27 points, including three 3-pointers late in the fourth quarter and five charity tosses down the stretch.

Ashley Barker, seeing her first action since a knee injury in the summer, added 20 points and 10 rebounds for Mogadore.

Jamie Willis paced Waterloo with a game-high 28 points, while Megan Forney and Laurin Wareham chipped in with 10 tallies each.

KENT ROOSEVELT 59, CRESTWOOD 36

The host Rough Riders pulled away in the second half to capture a PTC Metro Division win on Saturday.

Kent Roosevelt (7-5. 4-2) led just 25-20 at intermission, but outscored Crestwood (6-4, 2-4) 34-16 over the final two quarters to break the game open.

Brianna Rock led the Rough Riders with 19 points and nine rebounds.

Holly Hoffman finished with 18 points to pace the Red Devils.

ROOTSTOWN 57, GARFIELD 48

Cayanne Breznak scored 16 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead the host Rovers to a PTC County Division win.

Rootstown (5-7, 3-3) led by just two points at halftime, but outscored the visitors 27-20 over the final two quarters to open up the contest.

Casey Miracle (11 points) and Brandi Barkhurst (10) also hit double digits for the Rovers.

Melody Bright had 12 points to pace Garfield (4-6. 2-3).

NORTON 62, STREETSBORO 56

The PTC Metro Division leading Panthers dodged a bullet Saturday, as they held off the determined Rockets in a division contest at Norton.

The two teams battled to a 12-12 standoff after one quarter, before Norton (10-1. 6-0) took a 28-23 advantage at halftime.

The Panthers pushed the margin to 44-35 after three quarters and then held off a rally by Streetsboro (2-9. 1-5) in the final eight minutes.

Cara Cook poured in 36 points to lead Norton.

Megan Densmore had 12 points and Shannon Blondaux added 10 points for the Rockets.

WOODRIDGE 31, EAST CANTON 29

The visiting Bulldogs outscored the Wizards 9-3 in the fourth quarter to rally for a PTC County Division win.

East Canton led 26-22 after three quarters, before Woodridge (6-5, 4-2) started its comback.

Kapry Watson (11 points) and Abbe Esterak (10) led the Bulldogs.

Brianna Payne had a game-high 13 points for East Canton.

COVENTRY 62, SPRINGFIELD 35

The host Comets jumped out to a 19-3 first quarter lead and coasted to a PTC Metro Division win.

Kristi Morisak tossed in 22 points and added seven steals. four assists and four rebounds to pace Coventry (5-6, 2-4).

Brittany Alekna led Springfield (1-7. 0-6) with nine points.

BOYS BASKETBALL

YOUNGSTOWN EAST 68, STREETSBORO 65

The host Panthers held off a fourth quarter rally by the Rockets to pick up a non-league win on Saturday.

Streetsboro (4-6) kept it close the whole game behind a game-leading 27 points by Jordan Matusik, which included seven 3-pointers.

Devin Rencher added 11 points for the Rockets.

Deontay Scott led East (9-1) with 22 points while Taylor Johnson and Terrell McClain added 18 and 17 points respectively.
