High School Roundup (Jan. 12): Reilly, Barker lead Mogadore to road win over Rootstown

MOGADORE 49, ROOTSTOWN 42

The visiting Wildcats were held in check for the first three quarters, but exploded in the final period to rally past the Rovers in a PTC County Division game on Saturday.

Rootstown (6-8, 3-5) took a 24-21 halftime lead and took a four-point advantage into the final quarter.

However, Mogadore's offense came to life in the final eight minutes as it outscored Rootstown 21-10 to secure the win.

Grace Reilly scored 20 points to lead the Wildcats (3-9, 3-4), while Ashley Barker chipped in with 11 tallies.

Casey Miracle led the Rovers with 10 points

CRESTWOOD 46, COVENTRY 40

The host Red Devils broke a 24-24 halftime tie by outscoring the Comets 22-16 on the way to a PTC Metro Division win.

Holly Hoffman and Tia Nuti led Crestwood (7-4, 3-4) with 14 and 12 points, respectively.

Kristi Morisak paced Coventry with a game-high 18 points.

EAST CANTON 32, GARFIELD 29

The visiting Wizards rallied in the fourth quarter to pick up their first PTC County Division win of the season.

Garfield (4-8, 2-5) took a 21-19 lead into the fourth quarter, but East Canton (4-8, 1-7) outscored the G-Men 13-8 over the final eight minutes to secure the victory.

Megan Gothard led the Wizards with eight points, while Jackie Tabor had a game-high nine points for Garfield.

STREETSBORO 60, SPRINGFIELD 49

A big fourth quarter allowed the visiting Rockets to pull away in a PTC Metro Division victory on Saturday.

Streetsboro (3-10, 2-6) led 39-35 after three quarters, but put on a 21-14 scoring run to put the game out of reach.

Megan Densmore poured in 28 points to lead the Rockets.

Sam Karas and Jaime Alcorn had 17 and 15 points, repectively, to pace the Spartans (1-10, 0-8).
