Female wrestler Tayerle leads Crestwood middle school to record day at West Geauga event

The Crestwood Middle School wrestling team recently won the West Geauga Invitational tournament with a new event record of 338.5 points. The total was 118.5 points better than runner-up Perry.

Ever Red Devils wrestler made it to the championship round, which set another invitational record, while the team's eight individual champions set a new benchmark. In keeping with the theme, Crestwood posted 49 team pins, breaking another record.

Crestwood's Kenzie Tayerle, despite getting the flue the night before the tournament, was named the tournament's Most Outstanding Wrestler, becoming the first female wrestler to ever earn the honor at the oldest middle school tournament in the state of Ohio.

80 pounds: Mackenzie Tayerle, first place

86 pounds: Dominic Szuhay, first place

96 pounds: Zach Guyette, fifth place

98 pounds: Mitchell McBreal, third place

104 pounds: Alex Kachenko, first place

110 pounds: Zach Brunty, second place

116 pounds: Max Weatherbee, first place

122 pounds: Dann Painley, fifth place

128 pounds: Nick Vespucci, first place

134 pounds: Justin Stanley, first place

142 pounds: Lucas Gerardi, first place

160 pounds: Aaron Zelinski, first place

Heavyweight: Eric Lawless, third place; Dakota Frenz, sixth place
