High School Roundup (Feb. 6): Rock, Olesh carry Kent Roosevelt over Devils

GIRLS BASKETBALL

KENT ROOSEVELT 53, CRESTWOOD 45

The Rough Riders were a model of consistency on Wednesday night, scoring 13 points in three of the game's four quarters. The lone difference was a 14-point output in the second quarter.

Sophomore Brianna Rock led the way with 20 points, topping all scorers in the game, to lead Kent Roosevelt (13-7, 9-4 PTC Metro) to the 53-45 Portage Trail Conference Metro Division victory over the host Red Devils (9-10, 4-9 PTC Metro).

For the Rough Riders, Courtney Olesh joined Rock in double figures by scoring 14 points.

Crestwood had a pair of players reach double-digits, with Allison Vannoy scoring 18 points and Holly Hoffman scoring another 10.

WATERLOO 51, MOGADORE 40

The host Vikings outscored the Wildcats 29-19 in the second and third quarter to rally for a PTC County Division win.

Waterloo (11-9, 10-3) trailed 10-9 after one quarter, but took a 25-21 halfitme lead and Mogadore (9-10, 7-6) couldn't recover.

Megan Forney led the Vikings with 18 points, while Jamie Willis chipped in with 12 tallies.

Ashley Barker (14 points) and Makenzie Williams (11 points) reaced double figures for the Wildcats.

WOODRIDGE 48, EAST CANTON 34

The host Bulldogs jumped out to a 10-4 lead on the way to a PTC County Division victory.

Woodridge (10-8, 8-5) led 22-18 at intermission and then outscored the Wizards 26-16 over the final two quarters.

Lizzie Wilkinson had 23 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Bulldogs, while Kapri Watson tossed in 13 points.

Megan Gothard paced East Canton with 11 points.

GARFIELD 68, ROOTSOWN 43

A huge third-quarter offensive outburst highlighted Garfield's PTC County Division victory at home on Wednesday.

The G-Men (5-14, 3-10 PTC County) won just their third league game of the season, but used a 26-point third period to turn the game in their favor.

Offensively, Garfield was led by Melody Bright and Madisson Geddes, with both putting in 15 points. Meanwhile, Jackie Tabor added nine points, as did Abbie Brown and Becky Kirk had seven points.

Rootstown was led in scoring by Jalynn Myers, who had 12 points. Brandi Barkhurst and Casey Miracle added 10 points each for the Rovers (8-12, 5-8 PTC County).

NORTON 50, STREETSBORO 29

The host Panthers struggled early, but pulled away in the fourth quarter to clinch at least a share of the PTC Metro Division title.

Norton (15-6, 12-1) leads Ravenna by one game with one division contest left for each team.

The league's leading scorer, Cara Cook, led the Panthers with 21 points and 10 rebounds, while Jaclyn Fortner added 13 points.

Megan Densmore had 11 points for the Rockets (7-13, 5-8).
