Norton win sets up Metro title game with Rockets next Friday

NORTON 65, CRESTWOOD 52

The Panthers moved one step closer to clinching the PTC Metro Division title as they came to life in the second half to pull away from the stubborn Red Devils.

Norton (16-3, 11-1 Metro) holds a one-game lead over Streetsboro and both teams have two league contest remaining, including a head-to-head matchup next Friday at Norton.

Crestwood (6-12, 2-10) led 25-24 at halftime, but the Panthers outscored the Red Devils 41-27 over the final two quarters to secure the win.

Norton connected on nine 3-pointers, including three each by Jay Ventura and Jeff Schulte, who finished with 11 points each. Tyler Sherman led the Panthers with a game-high 20 points.

Trevor Sweet had 17 points to pace Crestwood, while Jacob Klock and Jacob Graves contributed 13 points each.

EAST CANTON 72, WATERLOO 55

The Hornets buried 12 3-pointers to shoot down the visiting Vikings in a PTC County Division contest.

Cody Reichard, who led all scorers with 24 points, connected on six 3-pointers while Alec Pennell hit three long-range shots and finished with 11 points.

Also in double figures for East Canton (6-12, 4-8) was Hayden Miller with 14 points.

Jacob Flarida paced Waterloo (3-16, 2-10) with 14 points, while Tommy Saviers -- the only senior on the Vikings' roster -- chipped in 13 points.

WOODRIDGE 63, ROOTSTOWN 33

The host Bulldogs jumped out to an 18-4 first-quarter lead and coasted to a PTC County Division win over the Rovers.

Woodridge (7-9, 5-7) pushed the lead to 36-17 at intermission and was never seriously threatened in the second half.

All 13 Bulldogs broke into the scoring column, with Nelson Perry leading the way with 14 points.

Evan Ferrell had nine points to pace Rootstown (0-19, 0-12).
