CVCA, Ravenna dominate Walsh Jesuit Division II Sectional tourney

CVCA dominated Saturday afternoon's Walsh Jesuit Division II Sectional wrestling tournament, winning with 220 points.

However, a number of Portage Trail Conference individuals represented themselves well and will be moving on to next weekend's district tournament.

Ravenna placed second as a team with 158.50 points. Leading the way for the Ravens were Logan Reaser and Cody Hawkins, who claimed individual titles at 160 and 285.

Garrett Reaser (182) and Brendon Winning (152) fell to second in their respective classes, but will also be advancing to next week's districts.

Eight Aurora grapplers earned spots in next weekend's district meet, although no Greenmen won their weight class. Josh Burger came the closest, falling to Hawkins at 285 to finish second.

Danny Novak (113), Andrew Peterson (120), Brian Evans (145) and Brian McNamara (182) all claimed third-place finishes in their respective classes, while A.J. Suchovsky (195) and Micky Carrasco (220) finished fourth to qualify.

Sean Kuklisin of Streetsboro took third place at 106 and will move on, as will teammates Chris Dynowski (132) and heavyweight Sam Creque, who all placed third or fourth in their respective classes.

Woodridge's Pat Dickinson (138) fell in his 138-pound championship round match, but will be moving on, as will teammates Cody Jenkins (195), Mason Hilling (220), Matt Dodds (1130, Hunter Mercer (145) and Demetrius Tabler (170).




Crestwood fell to Berkshire on Saturday night in a late regular season game on the girls basketball calendar.

Berkshire outscored Crestwood 10-9 in the third period and 19-15 in the fourth to help build its lead. Payton Neumore finished with 16 points and teammate Kayla Byler added 15 to pace Berkshire. The Red Devils were led by 15 points from Allison Vannoy and 10 from Tia Nuti.
