Bowling Green -- Kent State women's basketball saw their season come to an end Saturday with a 76-35 defeat in the opening round of Mid-American Conference Tournament play at No. 5 seed Bowling Green.
It was a different game than when the two teams played each other to close out the regular season at the M.A.C. Center this past week. Kent State could not keep the Bowling Green shooting under control. The Falcons shot nearly 50% in the first half to jump out to a 16-44 lead.
Kent State went scoreless for close to seven minutes in the second half and wracked up fouls, sending Bowling Green to the free throw line where they found success, shooting 21-25 from there in the game.
The Falcons also controlled the boards, grabbing 51 rebounds compared to the Flashes' 31 and scoring 20 second chance points.
Tamzin Barroilhet got hot in the second half, scoring 12 points to lead the team in scoring. She also grabbed seven rebounds in her final game in a Kent State uniform. Ashley Evans picked up six points with three rebounds and two steals.
Allison Papenfuss lead Bowling Green, scoring 13 points off the bench and grabbing ten rebounds. Alexis Rogers also scored 13.
Kent State finishes the season 3-27 in head coach Danielle O'Banion's first season as a head coach, after going 6-21 a season ago. The game was the last for seniors Barroilhet, Diamon Beckford, Trisha Krewson and Leslie Schaefer.
